The HTA recognises that it is important for businesses operating in the garden sector to have access to comprehensive market research and HTA collates and publishes a wide range of market information, intelligence and statistics covering consumer, production and retail sectors through its ongoing Garden Industry Monitor (GIM) programme.
GIM data sources include statistical and other reports published by government and other agencies and the HTA also commissions a wide range of market research working closely with organisations such as Ipsos-Mori, Kantar Media/TGI and the Future Foundation as well as itself conducting in-house surveys and trade research. See links below.
A wide range of GIM reports are published including a regular GIM Market Update and the GIM Consumer Insight newsletter which are freely available for HTA members to download and a number of GIM Special Reports which are available to purchase by HTA members (at special rates) and non-members.
One significant outcome of the GIM research has been the identification and development of categories of gardener, called the HTA Gardening Continuum, which profiles the UK population by gardening interest and likelihood to buy or do some form of gardening.
